Our 2002 reunion was a complete success. Your Shipmates proved their mettle and braved the blustery, snowy January weather to come together. From Friday to Sunday we reminisced and enjoyed each other's company, and we swapped sea stories. We conspicuously celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the commissioning of the USS BOSTON SSN703. It was hard to believe that exactly twenty years ago we brought this BOSTON, the SSN703, to life.
So, who came to New London?
We were there to celebrate the anniversary, and to GET TOGETHER! Rick Geddes (TMC(SS) 1980-1984), Ed Andrick (MM3(SS)1981-1984), Bruce McCausland (ET2(SS)1979-1983), and Dan Fay (MM1(SS/DV) 1979-1983) are shown here in a rare silent moment.
Captain (now Admiral) Barr was unable to attend, but sent this letter to the Shipmates.
On Saturday we remembered all our departed Shipmates in a solemn ceremony at the USS NAUTILUS pier. USS BOSTON Shipmates President Barry Probst officiated, and a floral wreath was passed by Shipmates widows Audrey Thorp, Frances Fazekas, and Charlotte Daigle, and cast upon the waters.
Our Secretary, Art Hebert, presented comments during the banquet program.
Art's comments on how the Shipmates supported the sub crew behind the scenes.
Our reunion banquet program always includes a ceremony at which we present and honor the national ensign. The planned color guard failed to show up this year, so we went to our sideboys and asked them to do double duty. They performed admirably!
On Saturday our Shipmates capped the pleasure of good company with good food.
